Customers say they would welcome enhanced premium services and simplified fees, the response to a recent consultation on visa charging has shown.

Published 11 November 2013, the consultation on fees and charging - immigration and visas asked the public for views on the way immigration and visa services are charged for.

The consultation, which closed on 3 December, ran for 3 weeks and covered:

  • simplifying the fee structure;
  • fee levels;
  • legislation;
  • ...
  • optional and premium services;
  • Border Force services;
  • commercial partnerships;
  • refunds and administration fees; and
  • wider impacts.

A response document has been published on the Home Office website at GOV.UK.

Feedback includes suggestions for areas where fees could be reduced or new products introduced. Respondents also said they:

  • would like to see a simplified fee structure; and
  • agreed that expanding premium services would provide more choice and convenience for customers.

Responses will be carefully considered and used to influence Home Office charging policy over the next few years.
